This is such a wonderful story!!! I have to admit that this was probably the fourth time I read this book. King Henry decreed that Bracken and Megan must marry. Megan was raised in an abbey. Her father did not like how her mother was treating her and, since he was unable to control his wife, he thought it best that Megan be raised out at the abbey and out of her mother's reach. Marigold is Megan's older sister and is actually her father's first choice to give in marriage to Bracken, but since he is only an earl and not a duke, Marigold refuses. She is spoiled and mean-spirited and turns her back on her father's plan. So Megan has to marry Bracken. She is not happy about it since he is a stranger to her, but she obeys. While her father is away, her mother falls into a fit of temper and sends Megan away to her betrothed much sooner than the time agreed upon. While traveling with her guards, they are attacked but the guards are able to hide Megan before they are overpowered and killed. Megan ends up arriving at Bracken's castle with a group of peddlers. Bracken is not at home yet and no one believes she is their master's intended, so she bides her time and works at the creamery until her intended arrives home. When Bracken arrives, she finally makes her way into the castle and introduces herself as Megan, his intended. Bracken only sees her worn garment and red hair (he never liked red hair) and refuses to believe her. Besides, he thought he had met her a few years ago and remembered that her hair was blond. What he didn't realize was that it was her sister he had met earlier and not Megan. This does not make for a good beginning to their relationship. Megan must learn to trust God and stop fighting against His plans for her life. She must also learn to understand and trust Bracken. Bracken falls in love with Megan early on in the story, but he does not know how to show her how he feels. He is more often gruff and headstrong. They are both proud and stubborn, but they are also considerate and caring. They each have vulnerabilities to overcome. The story moves along quickly and becomes suspenseful when Marigold finds out that King Henry promoted Bracken to be a duke, which makes her sister a duchess. This infuriates Marigold. She becomes insanely jealous and vindictive, and plots to be rid of Megan so she can become a duchess in her sister's place. Lori Wick does such a great job of showing the necessity of learning to trust God and accepting His will and purpose for our lives. The writing was fantastic! There were only a few typographical errors, but they certainly did not detract from the story.Tags : The Knight and the Dove (Kensington Chronicles, Book 4) [Lori Wick] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Knight and the Dove Kensington Chronicles Book 4 Lori Wick 9780736913249 Books Reviews
I love when I read books that are fiction but help to increase my own walk and faith in God. I am so amazed when He uses the simplest forms to teach me something about myself. Don't ever stop seeking Him. Never walk away. He is always with you. This book represents the love I have towards my own husband and I pray daily he will find his peace with God through Jesus Christ!
Liked the excitement that was underlying in each chapter. Finally the knight found the Dove to be enchanting. Enjoy Lori Wick's books because there is no intrusive language. Early 15 th and 16th Century in England had many changes that Bracken and Megan endured during this time. Like many Lords and Ladies during this period, changes were made and not enjoyed by all. The hero and heroine in this story will give you a reason to smile at human nature.
Its a great storyline and plot. I loved the tender way people come to know Christ in the book. Great book!
I love Lori wick books. They are so sweet. I liked the give and take between the H and h. I bought it years ago and somehow when fall comes around I seem to find myself reading it again. It's adorable and romantic. Plus when I'm done reading it that " ah, that was good" feeling. Enjoy.
This was the first medieval romance I ever read and I loved it. Megan is wonderfully flawed and courageous, and beautiful. Real issues are addressed and the adventures is capturing. The violence not to gory and the romance not to hot. A good clean read that will keep you reading for hours into the night.
This is a wonderful read. Since the setting was so my years (centuries) ago, I did not know if I would enjoy it. I enjoyed Books1-3 so much I knew it would have to be good. The plot is thrilling and kept me wanting to read the next page to see what would happen. I loved the main character. She was an enchanting young lady and very courageous. The hero changed in many ways for the better and became her perfect partner. I was also happy to see the changes in her parents when they became aware of the lovely daughter they neglected for so long.
One of my favorite love stories--will be on my "keeper" shelf to read again. Bracken is heroic, courageous, and compassionate. Megan is sweet, naive, and brave. They are both vulnerable and unsure--and stubborn. Their interaction is entertaining. The varied characters of extended family and friends add to the story. The author is able to interweave an explanation for salvation thru Jesus Christ without overpowering the storyline and enables the reader to identify the imperfections of our hero and heroine as they themselves discover them. A sweet, Christian romance--I thought it was a wonderful, enjoyable, and exciting read!
