Until We Touch Fool Gold Book 17 Susan Mallery 9780373778935 Books

I found this to be a delight and at times very humorous read. This book will touch your heart is so many ways from the town who takes care of each other to the people who stand up and forces you to be part of it. There is nothing like a small town that gets your heart pumping and your motor running. This story has a little of everything which will touch readers right to their hearts. It’s a fast pace read with amazing characters that you will not want to leave from the adoring mayor who knows too much and always gets her way, to Percy who I totally loved and added so much to this story, and let’s not forget Larissa and Jack who don’t know it yet they are in for a bumpy ride. You have a little mystery, a lot of love and caring along with hurt, pain that will break your heat. This will be one story you will not want to end, it’s a story you will have a hard time putting down.

I didn’t say this but God love meddling mothers who have the insight to stick their nose where it should be to shake things up and turn them around. The story starts off with Jack meeting Larissa's mom she has a few things to say and not in a nice way. This starts the tail spin of a romance the hard way. The very best love is when you have the very best friendship. It can also be the very best romance until things go south and you lose your love along with your friendship. It’s a line most do not want to cross over as you will see in “Until We Touch”, it’s a line most should not cross over. For me I can relate to this story I have been where these two are, I fell in love with my best friend. It was a line I had a hard time with but he talked me around and they have been the best years of my life. Twenty four years of marriage and going strong. You will have to read to see if this works for Jack and Larissa.

For me it isn’t a good read unless there is someone you want to slap, others you just want to hug and tell them it will be ok and others you spend your time with laughing, crying and just want to jump into the book and be a part of. Jack I would have loved to have given a few slaps to adjust his attitude at times but there are other times I knew where he was coming from and I just wanted to hug and be there for. He has lost so much, he is just too afraid to let others to close. Larissa is just too sweet, caring and loving. Both use each other to hide away from feelings and giving them what they need without mixing it up to find and work on any relationships. They don’t need anything but each other to fulfill their goals in life. Both are blind when it comes to love to see what they have built together could be what makes a relationship last. Both will stumble through their life before they find what they truly need is each other. They make finding love hard and will go down many paths before they can right themselves in return righting each other. They will fight the attraction until the end.

Below is where Jack comes right out and asks her if she is in love with him after Larissa mother told him she was. They agree she doesn’t love him but he just couldn’t help teasing her. I had to laugh at them this was just to funny.

“Jack, you’re not all that.” “But I am. Remember that fan who had my face tattooed on her breast? And the one who begged me to father her child? And the women in Pittsburgh who wanted me to lick her-“ Larissa rested her arms on the desk and dropped her head to her arms. “Stop. You have to stop.” “Stronger women than you have been unable to resist my charms.” “In your dreams.” “No. Apparently in yours.” She looked at him then, her blue eyes wide, her mouth smiling. “I give.” “In the end, they all do.”

Larissa is Jack's personal assistant and personal Masseuse for partners at the PR firm. She wants to help everyone, and takes on each cause giving it her whole heart and usually Jack’s money and his house. You will chuckle at the things she brings home for Jack to help take care of. Jack just goes along with the flow, this is Larissa who he adores. Anything to make her happy, it also fulfills his need to help but not get to close to people. Jack has a lot to learn and learn he will the hard way. I totally adores the scene where Larissa gives him his massage and Jack gets a hard on, he is horrified. This was just too funny him running as fast as he can but can’t out run his feelings.

“If you want to take care of that I can wait,” she said. It took a second for the meaning of her words to sink in and when they did, he deflated like a popped balloon. “Excuse me?” She shrugged. “It would solve the problem.” She expected him to go masturbate? Like some kid? “No,” he said firmly. Gathering the towel and his dignity as best he could and sliding off the table. “No.”

Jack then runs from the room, only to come to realize that she now thinks that is just what he is doing in private. This was just to funny. The story is filled with just tales that will keep you laughing, chuckling and smiling.

Jack is a play boy getting his needs met sexually by other women with Larissa filling the rest. Who needs more not him. Jack had family tragedy which tore his world apart and makes him as he is today. He keeps his distance from any kind of relationship and uses his money and others to fulfill his needs to be a wonderful person and give back to the world. He will find the one thing and the people he needs most in life will be the thing he will lose due to his own stupidly. They will be the ones he chases away for they are getting to close and emotions are running high.

Susan Mallery is one author who knows how to write a story, she leave nothing out. Her characters you will fall in love with, her town you will wish you could live there and be a part of this amazing community were people look out for each other. Susan had me hook from the first chapter, so much so I will be going back and reading the previous books I have missed. Susan writes a story that is not only believable but realistic. This is one of the few books that I did not feel the author rushed the ending. It is a well told story with a lot going on told completely with a few turns and twist that will leave you with your mouth open things OH MY GOD he didn’t just say that. There is a little mystery what is up with Kenny, I am thinking he might be gay lol I just do not know what to think and I do hope Susan will give him his own story in the future.

If you are looking for a fun loving, caring story with emotions which will leave your hanging on until the end of the book, which is fast pace with heartbreak that will have you near tears, a book you can relate to this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book and give it a 5 Star for touching every emotion in me.

Until We Touch Fool Gold Book 17 Susan Mallery 9780373778935 Books Reviews

I say this every time, but there is just something about the way Susan Mallery writes that always keeps me coming back for more. Susan is one of my favorite writers. So every time I see that she has a new release, I always immediately add it to my book list. "Until We Touch" is no different. This is part of my favorite series by Susan, which is her Fool's Gold series.

In this book, we finally get to read Jack McGarry and Larissa Owens' story! I have been anticipating this book since "When We Met". Jack is a retired professional NFL QB, who now helps run a PR Firm called The Score. Larissa is his secretary and also the masseuse. They've worked together for years, but never crossed the step in their relationship where they became something more than friends. They only got the idea when Larissa's mom told Jack he needed to fire Larissa, so she can move back to LA. Her mom wants to have grandchildren, but because Larissa is in love with Jack, she can't move on. This was basically the premise of the story for like half of the book.

Larissa was adamant she didn't love Jack, and Jack was relieved to hear that. They were close friends who could talk about everything and be there for another. They enjoyed spending time with one another. But their relationship changed once this thought was planted in their heads. Jack was getting turned on during the massages, and this never happens! They would kiss, and Larissa would run away. They fought their attraction, but it was inevitable. Their feelings ran deeper than they realized.

One thing I've always loved about Larissa and Jack was that Larissa was always helping rescue animals (or in one case, Percy -- a teen who The Score family cared about.) She might not always have the funds to support her cause, but Jack did. He enjoyed helping her any way he can. They were a team.

"Until We Touch" is another wonderful story in the Fool's Gold series! Definitely check it out!
Susan Mallery is an instant read for me. She is an amazing storyteller, and this was no exception. Jack is a retired football player who now works in his own PR firm with his fellow retired football teammates and his ex-wife. Larissa is a physical therapist, and takes care of the firm whenever requested, and does office work when she's not doing massages. Jack is completely oblivious that Larissa is in love with him and has been for a long time. Everyone else knows. But he just sees her as one of the team.

This story was hard for me to read through, because I wanted to reach into the book and strangle Jack. He was so stupid. Blind and stupid. Larissa was the right match for him, and he used her too many times. I was happy when they got their happily ever after, but the trip to get there was painful.

But that's part of the beauty of Ms. Mallery's writing. She makes you feel something. In every book, you go through the gamut of emotions. This one was just a little bit more frustrating for me than others.
I waited for this story. Really wanted to love it, but it felt lacking. The characters promised to be complex, but didn't deliver. The love story should have been much richer and involved, but it was shallow and oversimplified. A big deal is made about the fact that she gives herself too much to her causes without explaining why. If you are like me, you'll read it because you need to know how these characters ended up together, but I recommend you lower your expectations.
