I've been reading Candace Camp books for well over 20 years, and they are all worthwhile, some even outstanding. This is a very good read in the series. I felt the first book of the series was so-so, but this one is much more compelling. (Did not read the second book.) The heroine, Meg, is a Highland healer, one of a long line of independent women healers and herbalists. The hero is the lord of the local castle, but an Englishman, much despised by the locals, albeit sight unseen. Meg and Damon meet, come together, the sex sizzles between them. But she realizes nothing can come of a romance between them. Then his young daughter becomes ill, and he begs her to come and care for her. She does, the child survives, and an affair commences. Then things get tangled, as they do in these romances, and have to be sorted out. Therein lie the tale.Tags : Pleasured (Secrets of the Loch) [Candace Camp] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Pleasured Secrets of the Loch Candace Camp 9781476741093 Books Reviews
As usual Candace Camp does not disappoint. One of my favorite authors, again I had many hours of enjoyment. My only disappointment is the wait for the next book in the series. Just a quick bit if insight, well maybe wishful thinking anyway, how about a story for Col?
3,5 stars. I love Candace Camp, but this series is a bit disappointing (this is the second book in the Secrets of the Loch Serie)... I missed being swept away by the hero or the story and I missed laughing, because I expect these things with this author. And all the scottish talking/reading was a little annoying.
Wonderful story. Read it in less than 24 hours and can't wait to start the next. Highly recommend this series.
I recently discovered Candace Camp and so far the four or five books I've read of hers I have enjoyed very much. This book was very enjoyable and I liked the main characters. I thought it was well written.
I thought this was a well written story. It had an easy flow. The romance was pretty good. The guy & girl were pretty likeable, but both behaved quite dense at times. I thought for a trilogy there wasn't much of a connection to the first book. I also thought the "ending" was non existent. It's like the writer realized she missed the deadline & just hit send. The sex was hot & well paced! A good read!
I liked the protagonists, the earl is realistically unaware of the effect of his actions and the heroine is independent but not strident. I feel the author has created realistic setting and was happy to meet characters from the first book in the series, especially as they were introduced smoothly without a lot of unnecessary explanations or rehashing that story. The parts that dealt with illness and treatment seemed true to the time. A few of the plot twists seemed a bit unlikely. Since there twas no mystery about the heroine's grandfather's identity for the reader, the method of revealing the identity within the story was handled in an interesting and satisfying manner. I look forward to Coll's story. I wish this was a real place that I could visit and explore.
I really enjoyed this book.
Meg and Damon are both extremely likable and they have an instant attraction. Which for Meg is totally unacceptable. Watching them both try to ignore the attraction is very entertaining. The denial might have dragged on a little too long - but not enough to be annoying.
This book didn't seem to focus as much on the treasure as the last book. But a few more pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
This book is much more sensual than the last book. The love scenes while not what I would consider hot, were definitely very warm and well done.
I would recommend this book, it is a well written, entertaining read. I am looking forward to the final book featuring Coll. I just wish we didn't have to wait another year for it )
